About a month ago I posted here because my wife had been offered the lead role in a major German film that includes several intimate nude scenes. I was completely conflicted. I genuinely didn't know what to do or how to process it.

The responses were all over the place, which I expected. Some people told me I should never be okay with it and that it crossed a line in a monogamous marriage. Others said it was just acting, that film sets are highly controlled environments, and that intimate scenes are usually far less glamorous than people imagine.

A few comments really stayed with me though. Some people said that if I stopped her from taking the role, she probably would because she loves me, but that resentment could quietly build over the years. Others said maybe this would strengthen our marriage because we'd have to communicate through something genuinely difficult together instead of avoiding it. Those comments didn't instantly change my mind, but they made me think.

The first thing I did was book an appointment with my therapist. Then I booked another one later that same week. I needed somewhere to say everything I was thinking without worrying about hurting my wife.

I admitted that underneath all the logic, I felt angry. I felt jealous. I kept thinking, "How can another man kiss my wife, touch her body, mouth on her breasts and nipples, suck her breasts or perform simulated intimate acts with her, even if it's all choreographed?" My brain understood it was acting, but emotionally it felt like a violation of what our marriage has always meant to me. I needed to be honest about that instead of pretending I was more comfortable than I actually was.

Around the same time, I asked my wife if she would speak to the director about using a body double for the nude scenes while keeping her for close-ups and the emotional parts. I knew it was a long shot, but I felt like I had to ask.

While we were waiting for an answer, I spent a lot of time reading about how actors and their partners deal with intimate scenes. I read interviews, listened to podcasts, and looked at discussions from people in the industry. I learned a lot about intimacy coordinators, closed sets, choreography, consent, and how technical these scenes actually are. It didn't magically remove my feelings, but it helped me understand the professional side much better.

A week later the answer came back. The director said he couldn't reduce or replace those scenes because they were considered essential to the story and to the emotional journey of the characters. After reading the script again, I honestly understood why he said no, even if I didn't like the answer.

Then my wife and I had probably the hardest conversation we've ever had.

I told her everything. I told her I still felt like it was a form of infidelity, even though I knew it wasn't a real relationship. I admitted I was angry that she could even consider doing something that challenged the boundaries I had always believed our marriage was built on.

She didn't argue with me. She didn't tell me I was insecure or unreasonable. She just listened.

Then she said something that completely changed the atmosphere.

She looked at me and said our marriage mattered more than any film. If this role meant losing my trust or damaging what we've built together, she would call the production the next morning and turn it down without hesitation.

I'll be honest—that reduced my anxiety by at least half.

For the first time since this all started, I felt like I hadn't already lost her to her career. Just hearing that she was willing to walk away reminded me that I was still her priority.

But I also asked her one question.

"Is that really what you want?"

She told me no.

She wanted to make the film. She would only be turning it down because of me.

That hit me hard.

I realised that if she gave up the biggest opportunity of her career because I couldn't cope with it, there was a real possibility that years from now she'd quietly wonder what might have happened. Maybe she'd never say it out loud, but I didn't want to become the reason she always had that question in the back of her mind.

I don't want to spend the rest of my life wondering if I protected my marriage by making my wife unhappy.

So I told her to accept the role.

Not because I'm suddenly okay with it.

I'm not.

But because I'd rather face something difficult together than make a decision out of fear.

Since then I've also met the intimacy coordinator. We talked for quite a while about how these scenes are planned, how consent works, how choreography is rehearsed, what closed sets actually mean, and what everyone's responsibilities are. She even said I was welcome to be present for one of the scenes if I wanted to better understand the process—not because I don't trust my wife, but because sometimes understanding removes some of the mystery.

The filming starts in December.

There are three intimate scenes in total, each filmed over two days and spread across different months of production.

Until then, my wife and I have started couples therapy together. We've also been making a conscious effort to spend quality time together. We recently took a trip with just the two of us, and honestly it reminded me why we've lasted so long. She's been incredibly patient, affectionate, and understanding throughout all of this. She never dismisses my feelings, even when we disagree.

Where am I emotionally now?

I'm better than I was a month ago, but I'm not okay.

A part of me still feels like this crosses a line inside a marriage. I still feel hurt. I still feel angry sometimes. Those feelings haven't disappeared just because we made a decision.

At the same time, I also know she's never given me a reason not to trust her.

So right now I'm living with two things that seem to contradict each other: complete trust in my wife, and genuine discomfort with what her job is about to require. Maybe those feelings can exist at the same time. I honestly don't know.

The shoot begins in December, and I have no idea how I'm going to feel when it actually happens.

I said in my first post that I wanted to be honest, and that's what I'm going to keep doing. I'll probably continue posting here every month or so, whether things get easier or harder, because writing these updates has helped me process everything.

There is no such thing as kind of Infidelity! There is no Infidelity here unless she does it in spite of your objections. You are getting into the Cuckold realm and you seem to be leaning that way.
