PI experiences

I am looking for hints on hiring a PI. How did you find one? How much did they charge? Did you have to pay a retainer? Any hints are welcome.

I am unable to do much snooping on my own. WH is retired military (very suspicious) and works at a secure location in a salaried position (can take personal/vacation/sick time with no advance notice).

Odd things are happening and I think the PI is my only option.

LG Cosmos from Verizon

WH is very vocal about loving his old dumbphone. He is WAY overdue for upgrade (several years). Is it possible that he has more than one card in this phone? I follow the bill closely and it seems to me that the times I see/hear him text/talk (he always leaves the room) do not add up to the bill.

I have considered that he may have a duplicate (same type) phone that he pays for with cash or someone else pays for. It would be possible to keep one at work or hidden in the car and one in use at all times.

This morning he got up at 5 AM to go to work and immediately began typing on the phone as he walked to the bathroom. He then returned to bed for 15 minutes, then got up and went to work as usual. I don't think he suddenly had the urge to update his contact list so must have been texting or dialing a phone number. Yet nothing has shown up on the bill. I do know Verizon billing can be slow, but....

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone with any suggestions.
