Got an email and surprise call from my BIL last night.......my sister is turning 50 and they want to throw a big surprise party for her in Tucson.....they're flying me out for it.

But it's Tucson....in AUGUST. (We need a sweating smiley).

Now I've been to Tucson years ago but that was at Christmas time!

Well I live outside of Phoenix and just love it...and I can't see Tucson being any worse......

The hottest I have seen has been 111....but if you stay out of the sun as much as possible it ain't bad...and any kind of breeze makes it feel better...

I thought we were supposed to get "monsoons" in August.....and if monsoons are what I think they are...well...that should cool her down......

Have a good trip

BG...I was hoping you might post to this! I wasn't sure how close you were to Tucson. I actually loved it out there when I visited before, stay outta the sun? No way.....I will be looking forward to it.

Course I may return to Oklahoma as one crispy Itty.....but I know it should be fun!

Ahhhhh Summer time in the desert!

Tucson is at a higher elevation than Phoenix so it's typically about 5-10 degrees cooler (less hot ).

You'll love it except during the hotest time of day... Early mornings and late evenings are the best!!!!

Enjoy!

Thanks WB.

I love the desert....I truly do! Course SO tells me I wouldn't have enjoyed Iraq all that much with him last summer.

I've always been cold-natured so the heat doesn't really bother me all that much. I just thought I might be in for more than I bargained for in August.

Oh man.....When I was out there for Christmas in 1994....I came down with a really bad flu the first night. They woke me every hour to take a shot of peppermint schnapps and then sent me back under the Elk hides to sweat the flu out.....quickest I've ever gotten over the flu!

Just remember summer time in the desert just gives you a perfect excuse to take a nap! There's not much else to do in the hottest part of the day.

Enjoy, wear your sunscreen and drink lots of water.

drink lots of water.

I have already been told.....drinking definitely...water? Eh, I dunno about that.

One older sister says...."it's time to become our father's daughters"....oh lord, the man was an alcoholic for years before sobering.

It is now a hush-hush for 2 of the 4 that we are arriving out there. I just can't hardly wait to see their faces and share in the joy to see them. We haven't all been together since our father's funeral in 2000.
