I finished the latest Laurie King book, Garment of Shadows, last night, and today the new Brene Brown book, Daring Greatly, arrived from amazon.

Just bought and started the new J.D. Robb book - Delusion in Death. I love them - quick reads, very entertaining.

I'm down to the last couple of chapters of The Tiger, a true life account of the hunt for a man-eating tiger in the eastern USSR, by John Vaillant. It's slow going, but fascinating.
Age: 64..ummmmmmm, no...............65....no...oh, hell born in 1947. You figure it out!

Just finished The Book Thief. Set in WWII Germany, the story of a German girl whose foster family hides a Jew in the basement.
The book is written from the perspective of Death (as in grim reaper).
Good story - interesting book.
D-Day was 10/9/05
He promised NC. He lied. After 4 chances, I kicked him out 1/05/06.
Since then I have survived cancer surgery and a heart attack.
Now he's sorry, but it's too late. He died an alcoholic on 9/5/17.

I just finished reading "Gone Girl:A Novel"
I enjoyed it but it was really hard for me to get through parts of it - details of the husband describing how he loves his younger affair partner. Then I felt like I was empathizing with the wife too much when she sought her revenge!

"Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. Can't believe I never read this before. He tied together a realistic take on hacking and computing with action sequences, neurology, linguistics, ancient history, dystopian society and potty humor. I'm kind of awed that his version of the Internet in the early 90's aged so well that instead of looking crazy stupid futuristic it looks like something 10 years from now.
Just finished Containment by Christian Cantrell, g_r all but forced me to at gunpoint, was also awesome. A rare "there is a twist" story that even if you see it coming is still great. Another sci-fi, some of the technology contains enough tomfoolery to get in my way but the story is awesome enough to brush it aside.

The Handsmaid Tale is a classic. A must read for every woman, but very disturbing, I agree.
I'm reading The Opposite of Me for my book club. It's chick lit and I wouldn't recommend it at all.
Recently finished Ann Patchett's State of Wonder which was excellent.
She packed up her potential and all she had learned and headed out to change a few things.

Brooke, I found it easy to get into. It's okay. But as I said the infidelity part of it could be difficult.
In my old age, I have learned that I don't have to finish every book I start. If you can't get into it, put it away--there are so many more books out there. 
Haven't read "State of Wonder" yet, but did enjoy her book "Bel Canto" and "Run." Did you read either of those, Hope?

Loved Bel Canto and The Magician's Assistant. I think Run is the only one I haven't read yet.
By the way, Skye, I adored The Night Circus. It was just lovely. Thanks for that!

I'm reading the Emperor's Children which so far I'm not very impressed with and listening to the Fox Inheritance which is decent but not a masterpiece. I'm so overdue for an amazing read

I was trying to read V by Pynchon but he has more characters bouncing around to keep track of than there are dead Rookies in an XCOM game set to impossible.
Now I am reading The Old Man of the Mountain by Ludwig Tieck. I have no idea what the fuck is wrong with me.

"Black Elk Speaks"
1932 book which relates an Oglala Sioux Medicine man's story and spirituality. If you are interested in Native American culture I would give it a go...I find it fascinating.

I'm now reading "Tis," the sequel to "Angela's Ashes." It's pretty good. Not as good as "Angela's Ashes" (so far) but good.
