Man, I remember thinking it was cool as hell (I was right) that Lord Soth was getting sucked into a different world. I was always confused as to whether or not it was canon though.

They are not literary masterpieces but if it gets kids reading then I am all for it. I enjoyed them. Good books to read whilst lying on a sun lounger.

Now, very good teen vampire romance is the Vampire Academy series. The first is easily identifiable in that it is actually named Vampire Academy. It is Buffy meets Harry Potter, but I actually marveled at how derivative it was without feeling at all derivative.
If you liked Vampire Academy try "House of Night"...or if you like adult vampire stories I can give you a HUGE list of stories to read...I am a Vampire addict and proud.

I begrudgingly read them...and surprised myself with enjoyed them.
I have seen the movies and am amazed at the selection of actors for it.
IDK who did the castubating for these parts - but ugh.

The Twilight Series is a guilty pleasure of mine.
I think Bella is a ridiculous caricature of a teenage girl, but I just couldn't put them down.
I even re-read them.

I read them because my 6th girls were enraptured. Worst books ever. I liked Hunger Games and the Crossed series- at least you could find a theme!

I think I got into the books because:
1. They are super easy to read. You really don't even have to think. And with my my career, sometimes that is just what I need.
2. I am the "boss"..the ultimate one...at work. Everything is ON me. All the decisions. The financial responsibilities. The burden of keeping the business chugging and having so many people rely on me. PLUS having kids and dog! It's just overwhelming sometime. For me, it's a fantasy to have someone take care of me and protect me and provide for me.
Hell, my whole life is an ode to strong, independent womanhood. Was nice to have a departure in my reading!

I read the first one. I only made it halfway through the second one...and I do agree about Meyers having nailed depression dead-on. I haven't read the third. BUT I read Breaking Dawn and it was a relief! I could actually read it!
The movies? Hilarious.
The dolls? My husband and I laugh about them. He took a picture of me holding an Edward doll and doing the Edward face (you know, sucking and puckering in that lower lip, LOL).
I now refer to my son's hair as "Edward hair" when it's particulary crazy.
