I usually read sci-fi/horror/fantasy/crime and I have not read romances in over 20 years as I find it dull (my 16 year old self would be horrified at me saying that now ) but I am looking for some lighter stuff at the moment and thought chick lit would do! Any good ones out there? Preferably lighthearted, funny and not to deep...my brain does not process deep at the moment T.I.A.

i don't do much chick lit either, but i picked up "confessions of a shopaholic" by sophie kinsella at the airport one time. it turned into a guilty pleasure book, much to my surprise. i'm not the girliest shopper type in the world...but i laughed.

Thank you. I ordered all 7 of them. I just got the 1st one from the library after watching the movie and I enjoyed the book so much more.

Sophie Kinsella rocks!!! Her shopaholic series kinda got old after the first three or so, but her other books are also great. Love The Undomestic Goddess and Twenties Girl.

And I mentioned this in the Guy Lit thread, but Matt Dunn is the male version of Sophie Kinsella - very funny stuff from a male perspective (and also Brit - yay!). My favorite is The Ex-Boyfriend's Handbook

Jennifer Weiner is also kind of fun to read. She's got a dry, sarcastic wit. "Good in Bed" is pretty funny....although I didn't actually *read* it, I listened to it on audiobook.

In my effort to be *concise*, I often come off as blunt and harsh. Sorry, don't mean to be offensive.

I loved the shopaholic series but never got the last one. I also loved Undomestic Goddess, and by far my favorite was Can You Keep a Secret? All Sophie Kinsella books. I read a lot of vampire/wolf/sci-fi/sorcery blah blah blah. I love anything interesting but these are my guilty preferences.

I love Sophie Kinsella too, both the shopaholic and her others. She also writes as Madeleine Wickham (maybe her real name?) and I love those books too. Not funny like Shopaholic, but nothing deep or heavy. Those books have been great in the post-S evenings.

Jodi Picoult is by one of my favorite authors -- some of her books are intense topics, but they're hard to put down. :-)

Have you read the Hunger Games?? Now THAT is a series I literally stayed up all night reading.
