GAH!!!

It flooded a week ago while I was out of town. Got all that cleaned up, ruined stuff carted off to the dump, everything else stowed on high ground, basement scrubbed with bleached - twice - to kill the mildew and stop any mold.

And this morning, it started filling back up with water again due to the overnight rains. Currently 3 inches of water in every corner of the basement. It's less than an inch away from the bottom of the furnace and water heater. It stinks. The sump pump can't keep up.

And? Another downpour just started.

Make it stop. Please?

When mine flooded last year, I called our local fire department, and they came and pumped it out for me. It is a volunteer department so I gave the a donation. It that something you could do?

Rain stopped overnight. The water level is slowly dropping and leaving behind some lovely filthy muck on every surface.

Thanks for the support. I'll stop whining now.

mine flooded last Sunday. Rained all night and day yesterday, I'm afraid to look. Good news is, I replaced the berber carpet with tile, so just sucked it up with the shop vac, it didn't get to the areas with furniture except the legs of the couches. Luckily, I have concrete block walls with cedar panelling that we sealed with kilz, so no mold for me. Hate, hate, hate this weather....and even though the walls are sealed, it came in over the top of the wall....so no fixing that without retrenching around the foundation to the tune of ten grand or more....ugh. good luck to you today! and praying for the rain to stop for you....

Basement completely drained, power washed, and bleached. Unfortunately, I've got this down to a science.

It's a bad thing when the water in the sump pump hole is steaming hot, right?

RIP pump. *sigh*
