Well, of all the karma in the world, or coincidences, I don't know the right word...

The neighborhood in Boston where the tragedy occured is the very street where my college dorm and classrooms are. I was there about 20 years ago, but still have friend in the city.

For some more craziness, or irony, the college they spoke of on the news, is where Perv and my brother went to college also.

Brrr, kind of shivery.

Hope I don't cause any offense or anything, it was just strange to hear those addresses and schools mentioned after all those years.

I can't imagine anyone taking offense, Ashland. It is so very unnerving when you have personal ties to these kinds of events.

We had a campus shooting in my community about 20 years ago. The shooter killed 5 people, wounded another, and then killed himself. I had classes in the classroom where people were killed. The woman who survived went to my elementary school in my hometown a couple hours away - her brother had been in my class.

It was surreal and unnerving. It still is with me today, even after all those years.

That's soooo scary, NIK. I've heard that it can stay with people for a really long time, like post traumatic stress disorder.

We/I have a nephew who graduated from college within the past few years and his school was on the national news for a shooting, too. Prior to that tragedy, we hadn't even realized what school he went to. They even had a pet named after one of the school's sports teams, but we didn't know them well enough to know the origin of the pets name.

This same family had moved from New England further south and on the news in the past few years was another school shooting, where all their kids went!

Sometimes it's hard to digest all that's going on in the world and I've been saddened to hear good people asking why still be good, when so many people get away with not having to?

I've returned to college in recent years and there have been two classes where other students put up comments or video about national/international news and actually got reamed out for it, though it was very neutral media and nicely done. So this really hit home but it made me think in advance to put a little p.s. like that.

Again many thanks, NIK.

P.S. The nephew was present on campus but in another building, nearby. He said it's vivid in his mind to this day and even though they got extensions on projects, still many finished projects and tests poorly, for lack of concentration.
