My resume gets handed to business clients of my company a lot. They can pick or reject me from working on their project.
I have 2 overlapping jobs. duirng 2009. One was very half time. The other was intermittent on an as needed basis.
It is unusual and not always acceptable to have overlapping work history. Some clients don't like the way this appears on my resume.
Any suggestions for clarifying these dates so that people will understand that it was part time and both parties were aware of my contract with the other. I can't seem to find the right phrasing.

I don't think it's so unusual. I see that kind of overlapping dates all the time on LinkedIn. It's usually of the format:
JobTitle - March 2012 - June 2012
- Freelance
- Responsibility 1
- Resp 2
JobTitle2 - April 2012 - December 2012
- part time
- Resp 1
- Resp 2
- Resp 3
Do people have a lot of questions about your overlapping dates? Can you put text in your resume that explains that, like you wrote in your post?
Maybe include verbiage like something with "confidentiality" or "privacy" or "integrity" or "respectful of non-compete clauses" or something?

Add additional info to the "title" you held for that work- Part-Time, Consultant, Per Diem, Contractor. That can clear up the confusion.
