My niece is getting M next week. I bought a wedding card and picking it out was fun...Not! I looked at a bunch that made me want to puke (I don't believe in marriage anymore...).

So now I need to write a nice message in the card. I don't think "Good luck!" is appropriate and I cannot think of anything appropriate (I already ruled out "Don't do it!!!" ). The card already says Congratulations so I don't want to repeat. I need something short and sweet and appropriate

Help!

Best wishes as you begin your journey together.

In spite of everything I have been through, and my own personal belief that ALL relationships are temporary I for some strange reason love weddings. I think I just have an artistic/romantic love for the beginnings of things.

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you what a cynic I am, but I have an amazing gift for wedding speeches. LOL!

Anyway I have this quote from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet that I put in people's wedding cards. It's from the friar's speech in the marriage scene:

"These violent delights have violent ends

And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,

Which, as they kiss, consume. The sweetest honey

Is loathsome in his own deliciousness

And in the taste confounds the appetite.

Therefore love moderately. Long love doth so.

Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow."

Either that or the Robert Browning quote "grow old along with me, the best is yet to be."

I try to think past my own sad disappointments and remember how I felt on my wedding day, like I had this wonderful future laid out at my feet like some sort of yellow brick road. Honestly embracing the romance makes weddings more fun. (well... that and getting super drunk and banging a bartender)

12/18/15 found out my now EX boyfriend was trolling CL for underage girls. From the cops. The fun never stops.

Your quotes are very lovely, DCK. I really like them.

The cynic in me comes out too, and although I would never say it aloud, I want to warn them "KEEP SEPARATE BANK ACCOUNTS."

Awe, well.
