Ever since the first time I set foot on an airplane at the advanced age of 20 I have dreamt about flying a plane myself on of these days.

Well, I never had the money, then got married, had kids and XH thought my dream was just not worth pursuing while his were, so again, there was no money....

Last weekend I had my introductory flight lessons, I have applied for my license with the TSA and when I hopefully have approval in about 4 - 6 weeks I will realize this dream. If I have to eat Top Ramen every that day my kids are not with me, I will.

Another NB, spreading those wings as far as I can.

Temporarily independent with the whole world at my feet.

Are you familiar with the group, Women in Aviation? Great group to get involved with. Also, the 99's. Have fun!

Jrazz, no problem, that's why I was running late on Saturday because the instructions went longer than anticipated.

aLadypilot, I will check out those groups, thank you!

Congrats!!!!

There is no better feeling than being up there on your own at the controls of an airplane!

I like this video.

Especially at about 0:50 to 1:05 where she realizes she's just completed her first solo takeoff and then again at about 5:05 where she makes her first solo landing.

The smile on her face says it all. And looks like she mouths "perfect" after her first landing...and it appear to have been.

Best of luck!

By John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,

I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue

I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.

Where never lark, or even eagle flew —

And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
