Today in the car D8 was asking when she'd be able to see her friend again. Since her friend also happens to be MOW's daughter, I don't know when that will be, and I was explaining to D8 that they have all their own family stuff going on and I can't really keep in touch with them because of that. She asked what that meant, I explained that her friend's parents were also getting divorced and it meant everyone was really busy and there was lots going on in everyone's lives that made it difficult. So then she said maybe I should marry her friend's dad and STBX should marry MOW. I said there was definitely no chance that would happen, and she said, "Well Dad acts like he wants to marry MOW."
I had to seriously bite my cheeks HARD to keep from laughing. I have NEVER said anything in front of her about this woman, other than that she's her dad's friend, not my friend, and D8 believes that's just because people stick with the one they know better when couples divorce, or something along those lines. I've never talked about him having any affair to her or in front of her ever. She thinks we're getting divorced because we just don't love each other anymore. So this is something she came up with entirely on her own. She said it's because he always used to say he was going out to dinner with MOW and her friends or out to a "grown up place" with MOW and other people.
Anyway, it was too funny, and on a positive note, hey, at least she likes MOW. If they get married, that's good. Better than having a stepmother you hate, which is what happened to me as a kid.
