My brother brought over his giant hydraulic dump trailer this morning and I've almost filled it with crap. My ex's stuff is gone. My house is less than 1400'². Where is it all coming from?

Good for you to get rid of the x's stuff!

So, I made some progress...filled 1 large shopping bag with shoes. Baby steps...

Where is it all coming from?

Isn't it astounding? I couldn't believe how much STUFF was packed into closets, the basement, the spare room, etc. Moving it all out of the house was like pulling scarves from a clown's pocket - it just never stopped.

So, I made some progress...filled 1 large shopping bag with shoes.

Yay!

I am not prepping to move OUT but I am still trying to move in. I have my dad's antique executive desk that I need to shoehorn into my office and about a dozen boxes of paper that I need to go through and purge about 2/3 to get it to fit in the filing space I have. It is super hot here today so an indoor project is much more attractive than gardening. I am going to try to move the desk and get two boxes of paper sorted.

I think my reward shall be a blended margarita. Oh! I should sneak the blender onto the bus afterwards!

Just bumping up for us

Haven't done anything since the bag of shoes. Work and class have been busy and I'm heading out of town for the 4th.

Still a lot of clothes to sort and get rid of. I am taking a bunch of magazines with me to give to family so that will clear out some of those annoying piles. Not renewing any magazines until I move and only renewing ones I really, really read and want to keep. That should save some $$$.

Happy 4th!!

I still have my pile of goodwill stuff. My friend and I went last weekend, but her car was so full of her stuff, the wasnt room for mine.

I think we're going to go this weekend. And then we are going to IKEA and I'm buying frames for some more paintings my friend did for me, and considering buying more Tupperware and dishes. Someone talk me down!!

Man, Ama - if I were in striking distance of an IKEA, I would be in BIG trouble. My best suggestion is to limit what funding you have available when you go. Take the money you are comfortable spending in cash, and leave the cards and checkbook at home. Seriously. I've done this before when the will is weak. Works a charm.

I've spent the past two days sorting through massive tubs of photos and memorabilia. NOT MINE - my parents'. Somehow I became the keeper of their photos with the instructions from my father to get everything scanned so it can be shared with all of my siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc, etc. It's a monumental task, as each of my parents was the keeper of the family heirloom photos for THEIR families. We're talking thousands and thousands of pictures, dozens of home movies, reel after reel of slides... sigh.

The tubs have been in storage for 7 years, so they are musty and dusty, and my allergies are through the roof when I work on them. But I am determined to get the first batch of photos sent off for scanning this weekend. Fingers crossed and tissues at the ready.

Spent July 4 painting my kitchen. It looks so good and clean! I chose a cream color - trying to keep everything neutral for the buyers. Next is the laundry room - which is a mess because that is where the cat litter box resides. Everything is getting a thorough cleaning as I go including curtains and windows.

One bite at a time.

I got my desk installed and a couple boxes purged. Yay for me! Progess! Oh, I also sorted my piles of paper and threw a bunch o' crap in the recycling.

Next Im going to move all the office supplies into the desk drawers so I can use the filing cabinet for my trail maps collection (I love mountain biking and I'm a total map geek)

That's my goal for this week anyway.

Not moving but working on the clutter this weekend. I think I'm about to stage my own intervention by watching a marathon of the show Hoarders.
