I was doing 58 in a 35, listening to a horrible story of child abuse that came on the radio and i was so horrified and mesmerized by the story I spaced going through a tiny 'town' on a back road in California. Didn't see the signs even tho I know the area.

The cop reduced the speed to 50 in a 35.

Any idea how much this will cost me? I have some tight budgeting ahead and I won't know for sure until it comes in the mail in a few weeks.

Like $150 or more like $350?

no matter what the price, you can go to court to have the fine reduced. Don't pass that up.

Sorry you got a ticket.

Yikes. Usually that is considered reckless driving if you're going 15 or more over the speed limit.

Just battled my first one ever.

They clocked me at 39 in a 25. Fine was assessed at $175 and 4 points.

I went to court and chiseled it down to ... drumroll please ... $175 and 3 points.

Trust me, the cop cut you a major deal by dialing it back to 50.

Tell me it wasn't a construction zone!?!

My sister got clocked going 70 in a 55 zone that was also a construction area. The ticket was $600.

These are steep!

I will just have to hope for the best and wait.

It wasn't a construction zone, it was a little town that's a few extra houses on a road where the normal speed limit is 55, except for just before and after the town when it's 35. If you blink you miss it and I blinked.

If your ticket does not give the amounts, check to see if the court has a website. The costs of the tickets should be there.
