So I was on call this weekend for a 72 hour straight shift of which I never got to sleep more than two hours uninterrupted. as many of you know that will make you CRAZY!!!

And it was a bad call. Sunday alone had twenty admits and one really disturbing death in the ER where I finally stopped the code to let the poor soul pass. By Monday morning I was physically, emotionally, and mentally spent.

After finishing rounds I went home and put my iPhone in airplane mode. I wanted my alarm to work and to hear music or read a downloaded book. I did not use "do not disturb" because there are numbers on that list I just didn't want to hear from either (mom). So for eight hours I slept Monday afternoon and evening.

And when I woke up I turned off the airplane mode and my phone just kept saying searching. The phone/text portion was done. Yeah, I turned it off and on. Tried to reset under three different wi fi. Took it to an AT&T store... They were like wow, this is bad. Told me to take it home to "restore" with my iTunes account. But it was outdated. And to update iTunes I had to update my Mac OS. So after an hour dicking with this I got it to attempt to restore!!! Nope. no go. The computer said to give up and call Apple. The apple people were like "oh, yeah, you don't want to use that airplane mode that long!" WTF! Why do they even have it then?!?

So I'm phone less. I haven't not had a cell phone since August of 1995 when I was a fresh faced medical intern. I'm naked here!!! I can't do my job, I can't surf grumpy cat, I can't look up meaningless lyrics. Aaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!

It's been awful. My residents are PAGING me....and I can't read the damn little numbers on the pager and I'm NOt getting out readers just for that. And I can't figure out how to dial out on my stupid landline handset!!!!

So I'm just so frustrated. It's like being dragged back to the early 90s. Thank God for my iPad!

First, I'm sorry about your phone. I have an iPhone 4s and have never used the airplane mode. Won't be now for sure.

Second....Dear God man how can you work 72 hours like that?!? I used to do 17 hour shifts with a single shift break inbetween (7hours) and I would get home and not remember the drive.

I commend you but think its just to much to put a person through. Big hugs!!!

Believe it or not, I just got the new iPad 3 in June for my birthday, and I'm having problems with it! Grrrrrr!

Sorry you went through all that. It sucks when a phone breaks down.

OMG! Now my puppy just grabbed my wallet and chewed up my bank card and credit cards!

I'm going further back in time! I'm now a high school student wih no phone or funds!!!
