I am enrolled in a Master's degree progam for Clinical Mental Health counseling. In my state that is the minimum for licensure. You have supervision for about 2 years before licensure is complete. School counseling is a slightly shorter program. In most schools hours do not transfer after 6-10 years. You can become an addictions counselor with a Bachelor's degree or in many states faith based counseling requires no formal education, training, or licensure. FWIW<
