You can't call your son to wish him a happy birthday ON his birthday?

Ok, so you had him with you for a week and dropped him off the day before his birthday. And yes, I did tell you that you are welcome to come to his birthday party on his birthday today because your family was going to be here to celebrate and I thought it would be the "decent" thing to do and invite you to come. No, I did not say "you, your wife and her kids are welcome to come", but did I really need to? I knew you wouldn't come, regardless, because we've never been on that kind of civility yet and probably never will be, but I thought for once in 10 years I'd try to "do the right thing" for the sake of our son.

But to NOT EVEN CALL TO WISH HIM A HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY???

REALLY?

WHY THE FUCK NOT?

By the way, he had a terrific time at his party with your dad, mom and sisters. So fuck you for being the ass that you always are, but your son did have a good time and didn't "seem" to mind that you didn't call him on his birthday. It probably bothered him more that I was shocked that you didn't even call him. But I guess that would make me wrong to flip out right?

((hugs)) to you and your son.

My oldest ds (14) went through this year, 5 months ago now. His father threw a mantrum because he wanted to have friends over for his birthday as well as family. He still hasn't done anything for his birthday, even now. It stinks and my heart breaks for him.

I hear you. I can't remember the last time ex-asshat called the bananas on any holiday - birthday, Christmas, whatever.

Yeah, I don't get it, either.

Hugs to you and a happy Birthday to your DS. You are so good to have his dad's relatives come to the party!!

His dad can just go sit on a tack! (what my dear, sweet, non-swearing mother used to say!)

Thanks all. I just needed to vent last night. I called him today and asked WHY he didn't bother to call his son. His excuse was that he sent a message to him via all electronic ways...whatever. I said well I dont' think your son got those messages and really a phone call would have been nice. So, whatever, I've let it go, but it just always reminds me what an insensitive ass is and always will be. Thanks for listening to my vent last night!
