2 of the three cats have vet appointments today. While they are not skittish, these two don't really hang out with me during the day. Only at night when one likes to sleep on my head and the other one, who weighs 2 tons, likes to sleep on my chest. I wake up every morning with phantom cat head and feeling like I'm paralyzed because of the fat one. Anyway, for your enjoyment just think about all the fun I'm going to have chasing cats around. Then taking them and all 3 kids with me. If I make it back only down a kid and a cat I'll consider it an accomplishment.

Treats and a large towel/small blanket. If your cats come running for treats and will eat them off anything, just shake the bag and toss a few in the back of the kennel. If they love treats but will not set foot near the kennel, toss the blanket on them, collect cat and deposit in kennel as you listen to their dulcet screeching.

You might also try leaving just setting the kennel out with a blanket in it. Cats love small comfy, covered spaces. It’s the being manhandled they generally find questionable. One of my cats is super easy because she loves kennels, all I have to do is open the door and she crawls right in. She's happy until I shove the other one in with her

I discovered a wonderful way to get a cat into the carrier last time Marvin had an appointment. Funny thing is they will let me pick them up any old time, but they KNOW when I have a purpose like going to the vet and they get all skittish.

Anyway..

Place the carrier on it's end with the opening facing up. Find cat. Scoop cat up with one arm (if possible) holding your other hand under their legs/feet. Lower cat into the opening of the carrier. MUCH better than trying to shove them in. It should be one very smooth motion and gives you enough time to pop the door closed. Of course then you lower it gently back into the correct position. I found this so much easier than trying to gently stuff them in while they resisted me at every turn .

Of course they will cry and make noises that sound slightly like they are communicating the ways in which they plan to get their revenge on you later.

They don't go for treats unfortunately. Luckily one was on the windowsill so she is in the carrier. How come I can't find the cat that is the size of a station wagon?!

Both of the above work really well for me too.

My two cats LOVE boxes, etc. Leave one open and unattended and I guarantee that at least one of them will sashay their little rear ends on over to it.

However, it never fails that when we have to go to the vet, they avoid contact like the plague.

Did I mention these two cats are a-holes? One would just pee in the box because its not supposed to be on the floor and the other would ignore it. The 3rd cat is the only animal in this house that isn't dead set on pissing me off. Even the dog is in on that.

I knew this would happen. The cat is in the bed frame and won't come out. Baby came upstairs doing her Stewie Griffin impression, "mom, mom, mommy, mom," and then sits on me and bounces while I'm trying to coax the cat out.

I just have one answer -

canned air.

I know my cats will immediately evacuate whatever area they are in when the can of air goes off. It would definitely get mine out of the bed frame.

One of our cats is so deathly afraid of it he does a panic run if you open a bottle of soda near him. Or just say "pssssst" somewhere near him.

It doesn't solve the problem of catching them, but it will get them out of an impossible-to-reach area if you need it.

And, of course, never spray the air directly on the cat. Although you probably wouldn't be able to direct it on one for long enough to do any damage, the stuff is COLD, and also contains some chemicals that you don't want to get on kitty.

If you don't have canned air available, a vacuum cleaner might work, depending on your cats' opinions on that particular "monster".

3 kids, one tired mom, and 2 pissed off cats headed to the vet where they will charge me 7 million dollars to step in the room and not be able to remove the part of their brain that makes them jerks.

Ya know FaithFool, I've been told that many times. People like to tell me they love following me on Facebook for my stories. They think its sooooo funny. I'm like, "thanks...I'm glad my life is so entertaining." Thankfully I'm getting out by myself tonight to get my hair cut and dyed.

Ugh! Taking cats AND kids to the vet? I wanted to have a glass of wine for you after reading that! Then I started to feel beads of perspiration forming on my forehead when you posted that the fat one was in the bed frame! I need to quit reading before I have a panic attack.

I keep an old fitted sheet upside down on the box spring. Everyone seems to think it's exceptionally weird of me, but I don't like missing cats, holes in the fabric, the pitter patter of furry feet beneath my head when I'm trying to sleep, or a box spring full of fur and hairballs

That's a really good idea! I need a new bed so for the next one I'll definitely try that. The kids were up earlier than usual because DD8 had her yearly check up this morning. By the time we got to the vet the baby had a meltdown about...well...everything. The world was just pissing her off. I asked the vet to give her a tranquilizer. One cat has been diagnosed an a-hole. Any of her issues is because she is a giant jerk. The other cat, who has an autoimmune disease, will probably need steroid shots every three months for the rest of her life. The dog who is 100 years old is on medication for the rest of her time (which will be for.ev.er.) for incontinence. She is a good dog...just kind of useless at this point. Except for eating a bag of mini bagels yesterday. Thank you for ridding me of those mini bagels...they were dangerous (can you feel the sarcasm dripping). The only animal that doesn't have an issue is one cat...Lily Mcfuzzbutt. If she turns into an a-hole then we know a-holeness is contagious.

Seriously, I had to drug my cat to be able to catch her. She was semi feral so I had to drug her. Otherwise she would sh*t herself trying to get away from me (literally) and it just stressed both of us out WAY too much.
