Never been there.... I was looking for a condo and ended up booking one along "South Walton" on scenic 30A.

Anyone know this area? Is it actually considered Destin?

Oh well...we shall see...

Destin is a beautiful area. The beaches are literally white sand. The sea is a beautiful turquoises blue. Unless there is a seaweed or jellyfish bloom (which is difficult to predict but a part of life), then then sea is also wonderful to swim in.

South Walton is close enough to Destin to be considered the same area. Depending upon the area, it may be less populated/crowded than Destin. If you were going for spring break and wanted to be in the heart of the party, then you would probably be disappointed. If you just want a nice family vacation then you will probably not be disappointed.

Sadly I used to love Destin. But the actions of my stupid X has made it a place of triggers. Regardless, I encourage those that can enjoy it to definitely enjoy it!!

Seaside FL and Rosemary Beach are really quaint areas in the Gulf. If they aren't far from your Condo that would be a great area. White beaches and crystal blue water. Enjoy your vacation!

We are going for a (hopefully) relaxing family week at the beach.

The listing says the condo is on the beach near Grayton Beach, Seaside, and Watercolor.

We can't wait!

Live in the South Walton beaches area.

Most beautiful beaches that I have seen in the world

Area where you are staying is much better than Destin proper IMHO. This year traffic has been horrid in the city limits. 30-a has a really classy/artsy/funky Florida feel with great restaurants and unique shopping. The do not allow any chain type businesses which really adds to the charm.

Also South Walton is one of the few places in the world that you can see dune lakes..so make sure to check them out while you are here and if you are lucky you may see the resident eagles.

Hope you enjoy the area!

I don't think "disappointing" is even a possibility, knight.

I think that word has officially been removed from their vocabulary.

I'm sure WAL would agree.

I grew up in the Pensacola area and would go to San Destin / Destin with my grandmother. Heaven. Pure heaven. There's absolutely nothing like it. I wouldn't advise drinking any unbottled water at any restaurant on or right close to the beach. Don't get ice in your drink either.

Its been a long time since I've been out there, but if God would grant me one wish, it would be to live in Destin with my H, our DS and my granny (okay 2 wishes cause she passed away :( ).

I'm actually pretty jealous you're going. Have fun and soak in the scenery. There's nowhere else on Earth like that place and yes, there are a bunch of rich snobs in the area, but, who cares when you're eating some of the best freshly caught shrimp and fish around!
