Welcome to the formal announcement of the 2013/2014 S.I. – N.F. L. Pigskin Picks football pool. Obviously, I should have started a pool in the offseason to crown the winner of the closest to the pin for number of N.F.L. felons arrested this year, but I digress.
The format is quite simple – it’s a confidence pool whereby players choose a winner between the two teams playing for each game. If your chosen team wins, you get a point. If they lose, well...you get a big empty enchilada. The player with the most correct picks weekly over all the players playing wins the week and the player with the highest cumulative score throughout the season is crowned – drum roll, please - S.I. Pigskin Picks Champion!
If your taste buds for all things football are like mine and you aren’t satisfied with the regular season hijinks, we then go into the Playoff and Superbowl rounds and crown yet another Champion! So, you have two – COUNT ‘EM: TWO – possible ways to be a champion this football season (though you’re all champions in my book 
)!
We crowned a newbie champion last year, so a big shout out to purplejacket4 for winning the regular season pool and to dirk pitt for taking the Playoff/Super Bowl crown in the 2012/2013 Season!

Anyone can play regardless of your football knowhow. Heck, pick the team with the best fitting uniforms or goofiest mascot for all we care. If you’re interested in jumping onto this crazy train, simply say “Put me in, Commish!” by responding to this thread and just like a 30-second acceptance at Capitol One – BAM! – you’re in!
I will be back on Monday the 26th with the first week’s schedule and the overall rules and information such as game times, deadlines for posting your picks, when and how standings will be published, etc., all those fine detail things that make running the pool so exciting! 
(I already need a drink).
Trash talk is very much encouraged, but word to the wise – be careful, as I’m sure you wouldn’t want to lose your S.I. membership getting all rattled over a missed field goal attempt. 
ETA: (I liked the above statement so much from last year that I’m leaving it in again).
Trust that we do have a lot of fun throughout the season, especially as the picks get tougher with those usual upset weeks thrown in and the occasional murder trial pre-trial motions and all.
