Has anyone out there had a tummy tuck done? I want one and went for an evaluation but the long scare from hip to hip really scared me. Was it worth it? Would you do it again? Does the scar fade over time?

The same goes for boob job. I would like one, but they said you have to have it redone in 10 years and the silicon might leak causing you to have it redone again. Same questions, If you had it done do you like them? Would you do it again?

I would really like to have it done, but you know once it's done, it is done.

Between 2002 and 2003, I lost over 150lbs. I had a huge flap of skin that hung down.

I chose to have it removed and I am VERY happy that I did.

I have a scar that stretches from hip to hip at my bikini line. If I were brave enough to wear a bikini, you wouldn't be able to see it as it sits just below wear my undies would ride. Over the years it has faded but the scar, to me, was far less worse than the skin flap.

I've toyed with the idea of getting my boobs lifted, but at my age and stage of life, I dont think its worth it as much anymore. When I'm dressed and wearing a decent bra, I look pretty darned good.

I will admit that I'm still thinking about geting the loose skin on my back/rear removed though, just to smooth out my lines.

ETA: I had my tuck in early 2005 after my weight had been stable for more than a year.

Wow! Good for you for losing 150 lbs! That is awesome. My reason is that I had twins and because of the stretched skin it sags down. My boobs, well lets just say men have bigger boobs than me! I don't want super big just maybe a B cup would be nice.

Thanks! I feel a lot better for it and love being able to be active and outdoorsy, which was very difficult at nearly 300lbs.

I would happily give you some of my boobage if I could, lol. These things are trying to spill over DD cups. I do believe my hubby would mourn their loss though.

I can relate on the saggy abdominal skin though. I would sometimes get rashes in the skin fold and it was just plain ugly. It was one of the first major things I did for me in a very long while.

If you can do it, I say go for it!

In 2004 I had a tummy tuck and a breast lift. The scar on the tummy was not so shocking because I had already had 3 C-Sections. I chose the lift vs augmentation because I was comfortable with my size and did not want to deal with adding a new substance to my body. Personal choice.

I am even happier that I had this done now that I am 53. I work out and have been able to maintain my weight. This surgery does not replace staying in shape. Forgive me for saying this but as a result...I feel great about myself and look darn good!

Please know it was not an easy recovery. Hurt like hell to be honest but would do it again!

There have been advancements in tummy tuck/abdominoplasty procedures that can result in less scarring and less pain. The results of this procedure like most in cosmetics is very surgeon specific. There is always risk with any surgery so do your due diligence.

I had both done, and arms, all on the same day. I would do the tummy again in a heartbeat. I went full silicone under muscle but I would be more careful about selecting the proper size and think twice about putting something potentially harmful in my body. I would not have the arms done, as the scars are horrible.

If you do have any surgery, be sure to stay ahead of your pain, but take alot of miralax with it too. And have someone with you 24/7 for the first 2-3 days.

RFA, I know this may sound like a stupid question (I have not really researched any of this much), but what do you mean by a 'lift'? I consulted with a surgeon a while back, and he told me that there was really no such thing as a 'lift', that it is just a reduction. And then, later, if you want the 'lift' you go back in with a separate surgery and add implants to give the 'lift', or the nice rounded curve at the top of the boobs.

Your thoughts?

I had both done in August of 1997. My skin was so bad on the stomach I would do the tummy tuck again in a heartbeat. Also I had the "boob job" and I am not sure I would do this again. There was hardly any breast tissue s I thought I would like it but after much thought I wish I just had them lifted. If you do get implants make sure you get the size you want and do lots of research.

BTW my implants are saline and still there.

Just how terrible is the loose skin? If it is something that is really really bothering you then go for it. I have the baby pooch but when I am at a lower weight it is smaller than it is now. Is this something that can improve with healthy eating/Gym?

As far as boobs... I would love to have smaller ones. I am judging you for wanting bigger ones but I envy women with smaller boobs. Mine are full C cups. I would love to be a nice small B.

Wow, thanks for all your input. It's amazing all the individual differences there are. It seems to me that the tummy tuck for most of you was a success. As for the boob job, well I'm with you, putting a foreign body inside of me does not appeal to me, but ladies, I am flat, so it looks like I am pregnant. I don't know what to do! ahhhh!!! I will probably have the tummy tuck done though. It sounds like no regrets there, and wait and see if that improves my appearance.

HBAT my skin was so bad that at almost 6 foot tall I was 130 pounds and when I sat on the toilet the skin laid on my thighs. Bad enough for me and more than the normal loose skin. My small boobs looked liked fried eggs after having kids, I didn't really care about that but got a great deal on the plastic surgery !!

I should have stayed with smaller boobs. Live and learn

I had both done in 2003 and would do both again. I also lost a ton of weight and had this 'apron' that hung down in front.

I love my new boobs....I went from a A- to a solid C. I also have saline...didn't like the idea of silicone and will only have to have them done if one springs a leak. So far, so good.

I am very happy with both!

I had a TT with a complete hysterectomy when I was 36. I put on 70+ pounds with pregnancy, plus 6 abdominal surgeries. I had huge babies, and I'm 5"2. My abdomen was a complete mess. The stomach muscles were 2-3 inches apart and my entire abdomen was essentially reconstructed.

I, for one, can't say I'd do it again. Although the flap of skin is gone, my belly button looks messed up and I have odd skin/fat pockets around the surgery scar. I also tend to form a lot of scar tissue, so you can see scar tissue around the navel and feel "rope like" scars under the incision site. I've maintained the weight loss, and have actually lost another 20 pounds from the time I had the surgery. It was a horrible recovery (again, I did it simultaneously with a total hysterectomy). The docs said I would need another surgery to correct the skin issues...no thanks. I hate it, but I won't go under the knife again for something that is purely cosmetic.

I want to know more about breast "lift"

I have enough tissue. It's just kinda low. And a bra that lifts makes my skin look.... loose.

My wife did not have a TT but backing up an above poster. The surgeon is everything!

CS scar #1 on my wife is barely visible and longer. The man was an absolute artist!

CS scar #2. While not awful. Surgeon #1 was clearly superior.

Note both scars are at least 8 years old.

I shoot boudoir photography for a living and have MANY clients that have had it done. ALL said it was a great decision. The scars are not that big. If I had the money - I would get one done in a heartbeat!

I had a TT, breast lift and lipo of my arms and neck done 1-1/2 yrs ago. I have been VERY happy with the results.

I also had C-sections and lots of abdominal surgery, so the scar was already there, though this one is larger. Flat tummy is absolutely worth it!! I had lost a lot of weight before as well.

My surgeon recommended a lift as opposed to augmentation because I had enough tissue there, it was just sagging. The incisions for my lifts are worse, "lollipop" incisions. She cut the areolas off, trimmed them down to make them smaller, then reimplanted them higher up. Also took tissue from under my arms, twisted it around to make them perky (they are, for the first time in my life!).

Though the lift sounds painful, it really was not. Surgeon gave me a rib block, which was amazing!!

I would recommend the TT and lift in a heartbeat. The lipo, not so much. It was very painful and of limited benefit.

It is cost effective to have more done at one time, as the OR and anesthesia costs are quite significant. I had a 6-hour surgery, totally $$ well spent.
