Song triggers

When will these triggers end? I always associate songs with things going on in my life and my A was no exception. Since Dday, I only listen to Christian radio.

Today, I was at a flea market and a local radio station was playing over the speakers. A song came on that I associated with OM and it made me feel sick. But I thought I would do my best to ignore it and push on thru. But then two songs later, another one comes on and I just had to get out of there. Went to my car and cried.

Will this ever go away?

Yep. I know exactly how you feel. What sucks is that I like country music and so does my BW and there are quite a few country songs that talk about cheating etc etc. After D-Day there were some that were big enough triggers that an immediate station change was in order. It has gotten a little easier for me but only enough where I can simply tune them out in my head instead of changing the station, but the songs are still not enjoyable to listen to. I'm sure it will get better for you too.

Christian radio is great for non-triggery music.. Back to back inspirational songs to keep you motivated in life and motivated in changing behaviors that lead to the A.

Oh most defenitly. I am trying to find new ones and ones that speak to me. Songs that inspire me. Some of my favorites I have deleted off my stereo.

So sorry Bookjunkie. You are not alone, I totally get this. A lot of songs remind me of OM. I went to several concerts with OM and he likes a specific genre of music, which I don't typically listen to, but when I hear it in a movie or on the radio I think of him. I stopped cyring or missing him when I hear the songs, so it does get better. But sadly, it still triggers me.
