Again, many thanks to all for their views.
Crushed - He says he will discuss this in IC. We have conflicting ideas on whether to sell the bike or not.
Refuz2b - Your 'resentful teenage man-child' comment really struck a chord with me. I'm convinced that aspects of his emotional development were arrested prematurely. Communication has been poor on both of our parts but it's not been until recently that I see that any disagreement we have is seen as a negative by him and a discussion from different stand points is seen as an argument.
Strangely though, he is not usually quick to anger and these dramatic outburst have only just started occurring when I say anything which is not complimentary about him. It's weird. He has just returned to IC (he initiated this time).
smy, he rides more frequently than that but I think he feels the need to be a victim here. It is of course my fault that he doesn't ride as often as he would like. The kids and I stop him from leading the carefree life of the biker.
IWantDoOver - I'm 99% sure the bike came first. I am curious as to why you ask though?
Ashland13 - You're right it's just a material thing but it's what it represents that bothers me. It and all the other expensive 'possessions' not only reinforce this attitude of entitlement but also support his escape from the real world. Fact is, he is not a wealthy business man who can afford all these expensive items and travel the globe at will. I'm sure it feels fabulous to enact this but it's just a denial of reality. I think the possessions are yet another attempt at 'filling the void'. I think it's unhealthy.
