More than school ever taught me;
That I will dream again;
That who I chose to be with as a kid was not who I needed to be with as an adult;
And that out of the midst and wreckage come good things; I have to be willing to look through the pain to find them
and that I can go on.
that who I once loved is now my enemy and
that the world is still ok and full of good people who care.
I learned that I am stronger than I thought
and that perhaps I will even love one day, again.
I've decided that OW can have the prize
and I will go on to watch many more suns rise and set.
Life will be quieter now but also filled with other things.
The drama she can keep and the peace I will keep.

I like that, MMD.
It's a long time to get here, that's for sure.
I think for a long time I was in a kind of dream state that wouldn't let me look past the pain. I had to do a lot of admitting in order to move on.
Maybe that's part of the acceptance we all have to go through.
Did you ever think...what was I thinking?

I love this post Ashland13! The only thing I would change is OW having the prize. Your ex is not a prize … YOU ARE! I am excited about my life's journey but you are right … I had to work past that pain. I had to name it, feel it, grieve it, process it, look it straight in the eye … you get my point. But today is the gift that I have been given for getting through it.
