I'm in banking... we have Christmas Day and New Year's Day off. Otherwise, it's business as usual.

I'm off the same days as unfound. I get off work Friday, 12/20, at 3:30 and don't have to go back until 7:00 a.m. on 1/6. Use 6 days vacation, get 16 days off. I *love* having that extra week to play around with. (I get four weeks anyway plus I carried over a week). A reall good part is when I get back, I'll still have almost 3 weeks left. (My "year" starts mid-July, BTW)

Prior to my retirement I used to dread the end of the year. I would have to ensure that all out our books were in balance and clean up the mess that was caused during the year. Any P&L adjustments affected my bonus pool so it had to be done as accurate as possible. Working late into the night on Xmas and New Years eve was very normal for me. It used to drive my XWW crazy as we could never make plans. And I got a lot of shit because of it. But she sure did enjoy spending that check when it came in the next year.

I don't get any days off at any time. I'm in law enforcement and I work pretty much when I'm told to work.

I don't mind working on holidays, though. It's fairly quiet and I get paid double time and a half. That's enough of a Christmas present for me.

When you own your own business you ask "what does 'work year end' mean?"

"In a time of deceit, telling the Truth is a revolutionary act."
