Congrats, PrincessPeach and Abbondad!

Mantras and mottos generally don't work well for me, but I'm going to take your cue anyway and work to fix my views on smoking. Apparently, deep down I just don't acknowledge it for the waste of health and money that it is. That's a problem.

So far, I've been mostly tricking myself (when craving, postpone/divert) and forcing myself (when out of the house, don't bring money) to get through the difficult moments. Plenty of those, yet I haven't been using my list, and I haven't been working on myself. Time to start doing that.

So, Abbondad, have you been lowering the dosage yet? Patches really mess up my skin, and I hate the taste of the lozenges - but weaning yourself does sound like a good plan. Good luck to you, too!

And yes, I see the similarities with NC. With betrayal, even. And I hate it.

I have tried, but unsuccessfully thus far. 2 mg. just don't satisfy the craving that 4 mg. do.

I am not concerned about it for now, as they do help me get through all of this; and they are sure better than smoking. But eventually I do plan to wean myself off of this as part of my new life! One thing at a time... ;-)

Was all nervous about a smoking friend coming to visit - didn't happen . Hope I can relax, now.

I'm able to soothe myself better when I look at not smoking as self care, and look at the urge as one of my inner children (her name is Anxiety ) pestering me for an unhealthy snack.

Haven't posted (or even read much) for a few days, sorry. Not smoking is going fairly well! Hate to say it, but I did give in yesterday. Stupid, I know. Again, frustration and not paying attention. Being broke doesn't guarantee no smoking. So I'll add the Nancy-approach to my toolbox and just say "no" when offered.

Still, in general it's getting better - easier, less obsessive thinking, lessening anxiety.

Hope you're all OK!
