XH has taken a job in Minneapolis because there's no work (in his field) here and his unemployment runs out this week. He's #200 something on the laid-off list at his union hall. He's looked up hotels and found it's going to be $800+. There's got to be some place cheaper that can stay. Are there hotels that don't have websites? He's willing to rent out a room of a house. I saw there's some on craigslist, but I don't know if someone would want him to move in for such a short time. He's hoping to be there only a month or 2. Since I/we know nothing about the area, I thought maybe someone on here might see this and be willing to help me/him out. Feel free to post here or PM me any suggestions.

Use airbnb.com or one of its competitors to see if there is a room to rent for a month or so. I just saw one for $656 for a month, starting this coming Monday.

I talked with him last night. He found a hotel that will be about $250/week. 
That was one of the cheaper ones that he could find. Many cheaper ones had reviews with bed bugs and he picked the one that didn't mention bugs... 
He said he's hoping that someone else from the union will move out there with him and split the cost. I asked him if it at least includes continental breakfast and he told me that it's just donuts and coffee, but at least they have a pool... 
I mentioned the airbnb site to him, but I don't know if he will check it out or not.
