I have decided that it is finally time to quit smoking cigarettes....I quit for 9 months when I was pregnant with my daughter and was able to quit cold turkey then, so I am going to do it again....for real this time.

I figure there are so many other things about myself that I am trying to change and improve right now, I might as well add one more thing to the list

Good for you! Quitting smoking was one of the things my WH did to show me how hard he was working to change. I HATE the smell of it - I find it profoundly un-sexy. It's a big step in the right direction!

WH did it with the e-cigs. Now we're trying to wean him off those, too...

Good luck Alyssa!! I also quit about a month before getting preg with DD 9/2011) but started again a week after dday (6/2013).

I remember how proud I was of myself then. I'm hoping to quit before we hit a year but if I can't that is my limit. I can't do this anymore as it's just making me feel guilty.

Wish you the best!

There are several other SIers who are quitting or recently quit. Many of them post in Off Topic, so that may be a place of support for you, too.

Good luck! Sending you strength.

Good luck, I am into my second go again since Christmas, a little better this time. Its hard cause my BH needs to smoke on his drive home so when he's here for the 24 hours we end up smoking. And I do at my girlfriends too. Its so hard. Wish you luck!

If only more Waywards would give up their love of butts, we could put an end to this whole sad Affair Recovery business!

John 8:10-11: "Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Did they not condemn you?”

“No, Lord,” she said.

And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”

I feel the same way about adding one more thing to the list.

I'm going to move this to OT.

Reminder that OT is an infidelity-free forum .

DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

I went cold turkey last April. It wasn't a whole lot of fun but I did it and I haven't had a single cigarette since then. A few things taht helped: I calculated the savings and taped it to my computer monitor at work. That provided powerful motivation. I will have saved approximately $2185 by April 15. I also ate a ton of little carrot sticks. It was mainly willpower and the determination to be stronger than my addiction, though.

You can do it!

That's great, Alyssa. You can do it!

My SO quit years ago and he has an automatic transfer between his checking and savings for the amount he would have spent if he was still smoking (I think it's $6.30 a day). He's bought furniture for his house, a camper and paid for vacations just with that money. It adds up quick!

Good luck and don't give up! I smoked from age 12 to 26. Tried to stop a number of times before finally kicking the habit 6 years ago. It was difficult, but I don't regret it at all. You can do it!
