...just a vent, and probably in the wrong forum....so the rat bastard/roommate (we're roomies because he didn't kick me out and I'm in legal limbo), just came up and asked me if I wanted to go down and watch the Olympics courtesy of the digital antenna he bought. Why is he a rat bastard? Because in 2002, when we were first married we were able to go to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. We lived in Salt Lake at the time, and we feasted at the buffet of Olympic mania. It was wild, wonderful, and adventurous. We scored tickets to the women's luge, and conceived our DD after a free Cheryl Crow concert. So while Valentine's Day is triggering a lot of people on these threads, the Olympics is triggering me. No, I don't want to watch ice skating. I don't care who is ahead in the medals standing, and I really don't give a flip for the current Olympic scandal and how to fix the continual judging problem for ice skaters. Every year since then, we've been Olympics fans and have watched them together--both summer and winter games. Now, it just makes me want to vomit to know that he is enjoying something that used to be 'ours."

He's trying to rope you back in. Around here we call it "hoovering", as in a giant vacuum cleaner sucking things up from the carpet.

What a shame the something you truly enjoyed has become a trigger for you. There is nothing wrong with having an Olympic-Free zone for your own well being.
In two years, when the summer games come around, you can reclaim the Olympics for yourself. But for now, its too raw. Consider it your own personal boycott.

I missed the entire 2010 Winter Olympic games in Vancouver due to recovery. I was truly bummed because I ski at Whistler/Blackcomb and really wanted to experience it.
XWW couldn't care less. She's apparently happy and that's the only thing that matters.
I watched every day of the games this year!
Take back the Olympics for you!
Peace to you.
