It actually went really well. I was my usual nervous and neurotic self. He was very nice, and I really like him. We met at a really casual place for wings, and stayed to talk for a couple of hours.
I'm not sure what to think, because he's quite a bit younger than me, and in a different place in life. However, he was intelligent, mature, well read, and ambitious.
It was the most "normal" date that I've ever had. I guess that's a sad commentary on my life. Great kiss at the end of the date.
The best part : I got carded. Hey, I realize that they must card everyone, but I'm taking it for what it is and calling it an overall good night!

Happy for you WM.
Even if the differences, esp place in life, mean the romantic part doesn't work out having a good friend come out of it wouldn't be all bad. And the experience reminds you what a "normal" date should be.

I think they're supposed to card anyone that appears to be under 30.

Yes, there are plans for a 2nd date.
He wanted to see me yesterday, but I told him that I just want to ease into this a bit and take our time. He was OK with that, but has been randomly texting, so that's fine.
It's funny because I want a relationship, just not a 24/7 all consuming one. I think it projects that I'm not interesting in a relationship.
I tried to explain to him that I don't really know what I want, but I know for sure what I DON'T want. It's a learning process for me.
He asked me about my worst date ever, so I told him about my date with Captain Coupon. At least that date had some value to make us both laugh.

And an update:
Seeing him again tonight. He's bringing steaks to my house. He said he would cook if I provide the grill.
Yikes. I'm nervous.
