If I dyed my hair last weekend, can I dye it again now? (7 days later) I used a new color last week and it came out too red.
Appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

when I had my turn my hair orange incident while trying out red color, the advice I got was to re-color using a dark shade of brown to tone down the orange. I wouldn't recommend doing it regularly, but it worked. I heavily conditioned my hair for weeks though, in case I damaged it coloring again so soon.
ps: fwiw, red fades quickly. if it's already been 1 week, within the next week or 2 there's a good chance it'll fade out on its own.

You can adjust the tone of your hair color really easily. Using a toner adjusts the tone of your color without adding more pigment to your hair. I have red undertones and tone my hair often.
Go to Sally beauty and pick up some Cool toner and demi-permanent developer. I mix equal parts of each and usually leave it on my hair for about 5 minutes. Ask the ladies that work there, they're always really helpful. I repeat for 2-3 minutes if I still don't like it.
It's the same type of treatment they do at salons when your color pulls too red or ashy. Sometimes, I also add Clear toner for extra shine. It washes out after about 3 weeks, but so does the red.

My quandry is that I have to leave for a work trip in the morning where I have to present in front of a group for two days.
So I'm trying to decide if I should dye it again tonight, or try a homemade toner with vinegar and food color that I've read on line - but that seems risky since I fly out first thing in the morning!

I've used clarifying shampoo mixed with baking soda, which helps tone down some color mistakes (lather, rinse, and repeat several times). Whatever you do, I do not suggest using that Color Oops stuff from the store.
Another temporary solution is to wear warmer shades of make-up (if you wear and have it). Something as subtle as warmer tones of eye shadow, blush and lipstick that complement your hair can pull your look together. That way you'll feel confident and beautiful in front of people.
Good luck!

Dish soap will strip a lot of the red out. (she says from personal experience...)
Just be sure to do a deep conditioner afterward or your hair will be fried.

I just went through this. I actually like my hair brassy/orange and not bright red.
I washed with hot water and baking soda for two weeks and it came down quite a bit.
If youre looking for a quick fix right now, you can throw color on top of it (or a toner...might be a better option) just go for a COOL or ASH color.
