Got my hopes up that my sister would be here to visit this weekend. She texted earlier this week asking if she could visit this weekend. Was really looking forward to it...even told her how much it meant to me...that I really needed the moral support because I had kinda been feeling down.

So I text her tonight asking when she thought she'd be here tomorrow. She responded '6.' I said great we could have a movie night and some beer and catch up.

Then she responded that she thought I was someone else...she doesn't think she'll make it after all...she's sorry...

And it was oddly reminiscent of what would happen between ex-shat and me.

I hate being vulnerable...needing something from someone...letting them know it and being let down.

Sigh. Pity party for one, please.

Oh hun. That sucks so bad. My mum and sister were great with the ground zero crisis but absolutely shit with the rest of it.

I know that feeling of being hurt when you reach out - only my family have done it. Or they try to fix instead of just listen.

I've learned that there is a strength in vulnerability and I've learned how to ask for help from people I'm not biologically linked to. They were waiting for me to reach out - when you get so good at coping people don't think there are times you still need them.

Has she offered another weekend as a make up?

I'm always up for beer and a movie (you can have all the pop corn ). What a shame we cant have an interactive global movie watching night over SI and all join you.

Forget that sister. That's crap, the way it went down.

No pity party though...can you head out? Where are there people around you that you would feel comfortable just showing up and chatting?

Go out!

I'd be pissed. She's obviously meeting SOMEONE out at 6, before even telling you that she wasn't coming after all. Seriously rude, sister or not.

Ugh. I know how you're feeling. I've had this same thing happen to me plenty of times before. Not by a sister, but still, expecting someone to come, telling them how I feel, and then they bail. (((tesla)))

Any fun activities happening tomorrow that you could participate in? Girls night out on meet up?

Start texting your friends. Now. It is amazing who can shake free later for a girl's night out (or in!) Had some great conversations recently when it was "Kids are gone. Who's available?"

Thanks...getting some texts out now for tomorrow or Sunday...we'll see what shakes out.

My sister is only 21...I'm way older than her and we've mostly had a niece-aunt relationship. In fact, I didn't dump most of the infidelity/divorce crap on her because she was 19 when all that happened. But lately I felt like our relationship was starting to equal out. So she's doing the college thing and got a better offer on spring break then driving 6 hours to hang out with her old, boring older sister...I get that.

Still kinda disappointed.

I'm sorry. My sis is 16yrs younger than me. When she was 19, things changed. I'm told it's a phase and gets better around 23. Still hurts though. Sending hugs.
