Got them via email. I've looked them over. Everything seems to be in order. I will give her the honor of divorcing me, the joy of the paperwork, the thrill of showing up for court. Fuck it. It was her bright idea anyhow.

My friend came across town and took me out for a beer. She is D for a couple years now. Couple of calls and texts from friends. The support, as always, has been humbling.

I understand the celebratory mood of some here when the D becomes final. It won't be that way here. It's just a piece of paper to me. The real part of the M died months ago.

BTW, I'm moving out of this dump (hotel) in 10 days. I'll couch surf for a few weeks then I'm going home at the end of May. I turned in my notice at work this week.

Divorced 7/11/14. New Beginning on the Gulf of Mexico. It's real nice.

Wishing you peace and happiness in your new beginning.

Good luck, sunsets on starting your NB.

When my D papers came, I could not celebrate. I drank a bottle of wine that night but not because I was happy. It's just something we have to move through but I hope that in retrospect you will associate happier feelings with the event. For me at this point, I feel tremendous relief.
