As a customer YOU are the person I want to see. I want to chat your ear off about my pup and let you rub his belly

Amen!!!

YOU would be the picture next to the words "customer service".

Your coworkers are examples of why I do not frequent certain businesses. That kind of attitude/energy is draining. I'd rather spend my money somewhere else.

That really stinks AN.

I find the same at my full time job, in some departments.

I used to work in an area where my supervisor would come through the room and not even acknowledge me.

How do these people even get hired? We are in a billion dollar industry and the pays are in the high-income category. I would think a requirement for management would be the ability to MANAGE. I believe in building up your team, fostering an enjoyable, comfortable work environment where people feel at the very least content. I believe it makes for a good work place and it also makes productivity go up.

But no, many managers come in and act like children.

So no real advice, just feel your pain.

You are a friendly, out-going person, your job is to be customer-service orientated and I know you are. Let your joy be shared with those who appreciate you.

(((AN)))

It's really unfortunate how some people/companies don't realize how much misery begets misery.

And it's the freaking LAW that you get your break. If you ever happen to have a new place to work on the line, I'd drop the local Employment Department a message.... maybe CC a local news station. I worked in escrow, and the pretty much forced us to take lunch at our desks as we worked. I tried to stand up for myself and go out, but they sure made me pay for that with rudeness. Ridiculous.

Any way you can get a transfer? I'm just so sorry - I wanna give you a big hug and take you away from the jerks.

My former boss was like that. Well really, she was a total fucking bitch, to be honest. Think Miranda Priestley from The Devil Wears Prada. Yeah, that bad. People would say good morning to her face and she would just ignore them and walk right by as if they weren't even there. I reported to her for 8 months - she made me cry twice. I never let her see me cry, though.

Misery loves company. I was soooooooooo happy when she retired.

It was like that where I work for a while right after I started, except this is an office of professionals where I need to work to make a living. D day was two months after I started and it was so awful to not even have a friendly greeting. One time it was Wednesday before anyone even spoke one word to me, and we share a large office! Two are introverts but one is just a straight up bitch. Thank goodness we rearranged and I now have some friendly coworkers.

So, yeah...today was better. The one who growled at me yesterday for asking for my break very sweetly came over to me today and asked me if I wanted to take my 15. I politely thanked her and took my break.

The boss of the whole store continues to ignore me, but I'm really trying to focus on the customers and do my job. My attitude is that whatever the job is, cashier, waitress, president of a company, whatever, you do your best at what you're hired to do. Right now I'm handling it, and it's really convenient and the pay doesn't suck for the easy work that I do. A transfer wouldn't pay, this is 5 minutes from my house.

Thank you all for the encouragement and empathy .

DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.
