Since a divorce and a life change of working part time and taking care of my mom, I've made some life changes.
I've really gotten into history trivia. As an example, I love readying about the Civil War from both sides. This is especially enjoyable when I get to visit areas I read about.
Here is some trivia I found out this year ...
In the lower part of Ontario Canada, there was a factory which manufactured cannons and sold them to the south, to fight against the north. There was also an 'underground railroad' route from the south, up through Ohio and into the Niagara-On-The-Lake (Jordan Ontario) and they are very proud of the fact they helped run away slaves and freed men/women. Interesting stuff!

Sharing some personal trivia:
Recently completed a family history of my Mom's family (her father) and found out my Great Grandmother was 'voted out of the church' for living with my Great Grandfather for three years before they were married. A 'delegation' of women confronted her from the church and gave her the news. Her reply: "Do what you have to do!"
My Great Grandmother was 1/2 Native American so her family (Full blood Native American) did not approve of her relationship with my Great Grandfather, a white Englishman. They married and went on to have 8 children. The youngest was my Grandfather.

More family trivia: My Great Uncle had 8 daughters. Between the 8 daughters, he had 22 son-in-laws because that branch of the family got lots of divorces! My Grandfather said his brother could NEVER remember any of his son-in-laws names since his daughters were always getting new husbands!

I visited the home of Margaret Mitchell, author of "Gone with the Wind." Beautiful place in Atlanta. Do you know Margaret Mitchell died as a result of being ran over by horse and buggy, near her home?

In Tupelo, Mississippi, one can visit the small home birthplace of Elvis. It's a 3 room, 'shotgun' house. The bed he was born in is still there. There is a museum out back and the car they used to move from Tupelo to Memphis is there, along with a lot of other Elvis 'stuff.'
To me it was a lot more fun to visit than Graceland.

Oklahoma:
Oklahoma is a very diversified state as far as scenery.
There are many flatlands, many lakes and mountain ranges and even a salt plains area.
There is a national wildlife preserve which is home to many buffalo, in the Wichita Mountains.

T/j on Wilma Mankiller of Oklahoma: how did she get the name? Is it a coincidence that she was the first female chief, or did she simply eliminate the male contenders?
excerpt from an awesome quote "Forgiveness - the finishing of old business that allows us to experience the present, free of contamination from the past."

"Mankiller" is just an old Cherokee family name.
LOL @ Wilma eliminating the male competition.
My family heritage is Cherokee so I take a lot of pride in her. We lost a great lady when she passed.
