I had the nicest weekend. My brother-in-law came to visit and he stayed at our house. He had just graduated with a Masters, so we surprised him with a little party. It’s amazing how much things have changed in a year (for the positive) – he basically wanted nothing to do with me after D-day. He had so much anger towards me. But then as things changed positively in his life, he started to include me in his life again. I’ll never forget the first conversation that we had last year (around September) when he was sharing things with me about his life. Prior to that, we didn’t speak to each other, even when he was in our house (which sucked). But things between the two of us have improved greatly – we are friends again! We have never addressed my infidelity, but I am open to a conversation whenever he wants to have one.
Saturday morning, my BH took me on a belated birthday surprise (my b-day was in April). We went to a cute little town about an hour away. We stayed in the oldest inn in the town. We rode our bikes, bar hopped, went to nice restaurants, and he took me to see a play, which is not something that he would normally want to do, but he did it because he knew I would like it (which I did!) We held hands and walked with our arms around each other – I felt so incredibly close to him. It was hard to go back to reality on Sunday, meaning being around other people. I felt like we were in our own little world.
I am excited for Thursday because my BH and I have off on Thursday and Friday and are going to the beach for a 4-day weekend, just the two of us. It’s our annual tradition and I am looking forward to having quality time just the two of us.
Yesterday we had a BBQ at our house. His family was there and my brother and sister-in-law came in to visit. That is another relationship that had grown leaps and bounds. My brother and SIL live about an hour away now. They moved in August and the first time I went to visit them was about a month ago. It was a great visit and we plan on visiting them in a few weeks to stay for a weekend. I am learning better how to deal with my brother. Even before D-day, he would always try to provoke me and push my buttons. I am learning how to not respond to his behavior. Anyway, also during the BBQ our awesome neighbors also came over and we drank and ate and had a great time.
This was just one of those weekends you want to repeat over and over.
