So DS is currently receiving speech therapy through the state because his pediatrician felt he was a bit delayed. I'm wasn't too concerned about it myself, but it's a free service so what the heck.

The speech therapist left some paperwork of things to work in with DS at home. I gave copies of ot tonight to the a Gnat at drop off. He informed me that "he already knew about this stuff" and "probably didn't really need to read it". Really idiot? So you're now a speech therapist. Sorry, I didn't recall you earning those credentials. Excuse me.

He was the same way a few years ago when we had to get therapy for DD due to some severe anxiety issues. He if course knew better than the therapist and didn't need to follow her advice.

WTF? Is this yet another dimension of these NPD fucktards? I didn't realize they were experts in all areas.

In a funny note though. DD told me they stopped at the dollar store tonight and bought push ups. I guess they were bad and had to throw them out. DD said, "Hello Kitty's even burned her lips". Ahhhh, too bad it didn't just burn off her whole face.

Your life would be so much easier if you'd just realize Gnat knows all. Embrace it.

I think you just have to let that fall off your radar. You're the one taking your son for the speech therapy, right?

When you said, "I guess they were bad and had to throw them out." I thought you meant the kids were bad and had to throw away their push ups! Then I read about Hello Kitty's lips....that is a shame, now isn't it.

I'm too embarrassed to list all the ways that STBX NPD is an expert. Recently I recalled a trip we took when dating. We went to a touristy County Store that sold all sorts of games. He beat me at every one of them, and I remember thinking that NO ONE has ever beat me so many times before.

Now I realize that might have been the first time I let him mess with my head. And I started to mess up and lack confidence in my abilities.

Now I know better. I move ahead, confident that I know the best for my kids. Because I do. And so do you.

Trust me, I don't care that he's not following the suggestions of the speech therapist at all. I had no expectations that he would. My expectations of him couldn't be any lower. I figured he'd take the paperwork, throw it on a table at home and never look at it again. I didn't expect the "I already know this stuff" comment. I feel like my brain cells die off just being in his presence.

Only 16 more years of co-parenting to go!

Yes! NPD equals 'world's expert on everything'. My NPD dad is just like this....and a gaslighter too with little/no empathy. Toxic combination.

I have discovered a great game to play with an NPD:

It's called "Snigger"

Let them be the world's expert on [subject that you know a bit about]. Keep asking them questions about it and listen to their increasingly ridiculous answers. Allow yourself to laugh inwardly at how ridiculous they are. Ask them leading questions like "So how long has X played in [put wrong team/position here]?". First one to need to leave the room to snigger, loses. If by yourself: Give yourself points for each proveably untrue statement and tryandbeat your previous score.

Of course this game is only to be played at events where you're forced to stay in their presence (family events/work etc) because no-one in their right mind wants to hang around an NPD if they have a choice

Oh, yes, the NPDs are experts in countless areas.

Counselors, teachers, doctors, lawyers, judges...they got nothin' that the NPD doesn't already know about or clearly know more about.

Idiots.

In 2010 I divorced the NPD assclown who cheated on me with my best friend.

Oh yes, the expertise they have been gifted by the universe is astounding!!

In addition to his knowledge in all areas, my NPD STBX has also been to so many interesting places and met people and done amazing things that he has never told anyone about... until something he sees on tv or the internet reminds him of said things It took me way.too.long to catch on to this, I am embarrassed to say. The kids are also on to it, and look uncomfortable when he tells one of these stories
