My husband did shortly after d-day. I should have called 911 because he was pretty serious. He said the night of d-day (I kicked him out) he seriously considered it. I don't think this was blackmail. I think he couldn't take my pain. There were times I truly felt scared and sorry for him.

Mine is/was manic depressive. Dealt with his "suicidal thoughts" during the marriage and after d-day. I never called 911 because I was always informed after the fact that he had been sitting in the other room with a gun in his mouth. Awesome.

You bet your life I would call at this point. He was on a voluntary '5150' (ie...would have been 5150 if he tried to leave) the time it happened after d-day.

If he says the words, call 911. Either he is serious and you've done your part or he is being a drama queen looking for attention and it will stop him from saying those things to you again.

Shouldn't be your burden to carry either way.

An X of my S/O did this after he broke it off with her. Kept calling, threatening to kill herself, and he kept responding, which of course, was positive reinforcement. She did it so many times, he twigged it as manipulation and next time she did it, he said, "If that's what you want to do, I can't stop you" and declined to go running to her side. She didn't try it again.
