UK system is a bit complicated. I have to apply for a decree nisi (which is the judge saying there's no legal problem with divorcing), then wait at least 6 weeks & 1 day before applying for the decree absolute (final divorce decree)...which shouldn't be applied for until the financial stuff is all agreed.
I thought my solicitor had filed for the decree nisi. It normally takes 4-6 week just to get a court date for the judge to declare the decree nisi, the actual court date tends to be another 3-4 weeks after that...so a total of 2 months is about average.
Unfortunately, my solicitor asked for a letter to be sent to me, that I had to sign. I didn't know this, she went on holiday, the holiday cover solicitor didn't check and...you guessed it, it didn't get sent. I only found out today, a month later. My solicitor had thought I was just taking my time replying.
Ugh
I can't get down to her tomorrow, so she's going to post it. So, now it's going to be at least mid Sept before the decree nisi is granted. And even if all financial mediation goes well, no delays etc, it's going to be at least Nov until I get the decree absolute and am finally free.
