I think using any form of sexual stimulation, from porn photos, movies, novels, interactive rooms, strip clubs, cams, etc. are ONLY not cheating if you are totally open and honest about it with your mate and the healthiest way to be open is to share that together.
The minute your using it as a secret, shame filled, private hobby which you are compulsive about is when it crosses the line into cheating. In many cases, for the sexually compulsive, what turns you at first can become too weak and can lead to harder and harder forms of porn and can even escalate to rooms where you end up hooking up with people in real life. That is the danger of keeping it secret and not letting your partner in to what your doing.
The same goes for drinking, spending money or anything that you do, in private, in spite of your spouse's disapproval.
Many couples can successfully share many forms of erotica, toys, roleplay and even x rated movies to enhance their sexual sphere and bring them closer together.
It's all in how you use it or misuse it, in my opinion.
