Why would you do that? Someone you've chatted with for quite awhile but do not know formally... suddenly uses your name in a text. Why?! What do you make of that?

Are you texting with someone for quite awhile that you don't know and they used your name, but you don't thi k they should know your name?

I probably don't understand the question.

He knows my name just doesn't usually refer to me by it in text.

I wouldn't make anything of it.

I have a coworker who will start out a text using my name. I ignore it. She's just weird.

I think in other instances, it's probably the person typing the sentence they're hearing in their head. Or maybe that's just me. I tend to think my texts/emails/posts out and type it how I thought it. If a name pops up in the middle it's because that's how I'd say it in person.

How else are they supposed to address you, if not by name?

I kind of see what you mean. I dont normally use people's names when texting them - just as I dont when I'm talking directly with them.

But, if it's a more formal relationship that makes a bit more sense, as it'll likely be more like email. Where you do address someone
