My ds is an only child.lately I’ve noticed he’s been acting up.

We still haven’t told him about D. We are good at not fighting in front of him. The only thing is WH “works” a lot. Have you had any issues? How did you handle?

Your child may not have been told, but it sounds like your child has sensed a problem, and may be reacting to those feelings. The child may be reacting the same type way we do to the unknown and unsettled in our lives, where we get anxious and worry and feel somewhat disoriented, and the child's only immature way to express this is by acting out.

The only thing I can tell you is it may help to tell the child about the pending D, with strong emphasis on how the child did nothing to cause it and that the child is loved and will be cared for - that the child will have what the child needs, including time with you both, just not together. Then, the child will have more things "known" and less to be anxious about. Oh, and it may help if WH would not "work" so much but would actually spend time with the child..... I know that is probably not going to happen, because a WS rarely considers putting the needs of their child above, um, "working".....

Just my two cents....
