Lawyer fees...feeling like I'm almost done

Today I went to my lawyer and he reduced my fee (not by much, 8K) and also capped my fee (thank God!).

I am almost done, I hope! Lawyer is hopeful. I am letting go of a lot of nit picky stuff. Will walk away with a very, very small lump sum (after 27 years), due to lawyer fees and STBXWH stupid tax liability (he thought he was above the law and paying taxes didn't apply to him).

So, the lawyer said he can't advise me to sign one of the documents because then I can't ever go after STBX for money. I said to him..."is that it? Is that the only reason?" It was. So I said to him, I would work at 5 jobs before I ever asked him for a dime. And so I am signing off on Friday. Hopefully, STBX will finally get on board and finish this up.

I felt such relief!! I have been so happy and thankful today that this may be coming to a close.

I've learned a lot. And I am so glad to say that I didn't have anxiety today! (Lawyer usually was anxiety provoking).

Who knew that Freedom 55 would look like this?

I'm feeling like today was a big win because I can finally cut the ties and be free. There is no amount of money that can give me that feeling of complete and utter freedom!

So happy you're finding some peace, finally. I've only seen divorce from the sidelines, so I can't even imagine how emotionally and financially taxing (no pun intended) it is.

Spread those wings!

Thanks hiddenMist,

You are fortunate not to have experienced it. It is a walk through hell and there is hope on the other side though.

I am praying that the end is near for you. You will be so much better off without him in your life. Wishing you lots of mojo!!!
