emptyheart,
Many years past d-day. I stayed for kids and financial reasons thinking I was strong enough to get through this.
Turns out, you never get through with it. You deal with it, you live with it.
It just wasn't worth the hassle to split it all up and start over.
So I'm 50% married. If I had the opportunity, I might stray. I don't look for it, but it present itself, who knows.
I'm tired of trying to be the noble one, for no particular reason.
"Hey, does this rag smell like chloroform to you?

emptyheart - my heart goes out to you.
I can relate all too well with your situation. My fWH is self-absorbed and self-indulgent. He has done a half-ass job at R for almost 9 years.
I moved out 3 months ago and now his world is threatened, so he's making more of an effort.
We've been married for 48 years and I will be 68 y/o next week.
My regrets are numerous - this certainly isn't how I pictured my life turning out.
I am strong and will get through this. Believe in yourself. You can have a beautiful future.
Me (BS) - 70+
Him (WH) - 70+
Married 50 years
D-Day: July 26,2010
Separated: Nov 2020
