I'll give you really scary. In a community not too far from ours, ten years ago, a student got suspended for using drugs. The disciplinary officer told him they had proof from the camera on his school-issued laptop. Problem was, this was filmed without his knowledge, at home, in his bedroom. It turned out that the school district was remotely turning on/off the webcams on the school-issued MacBooks using a program designed to be used in case of theft. The district deliberately withheld the existence of this capability from parents and students. The parents sued the school and found out that the school took more than 50,000 images of students using this program, and staffers were sharing and commenting on them. The school district fought the suit for a while until someone finally got it through their thick skulls that they were in very serious trouble. They settled for $600k, and frankly, I thought they got off cheaply.
