Does anyone know details about this app?
This shows the option to use the scanner for email, call, share - much more than just a scanning a barcode. The icon looks like the figure to scan, not the vertical lines of a barcode.
The top of the open panel shows scan at top, and then looks like a contact with the name of the person, address, phone number, and email address. The scan is at the bottom of the panel.

QR codes are much more than bar codes.
You know those email links on web pages? Those can go into a QR code.
Those links on phone numbers on web pages that will call the number when viewed on your phone? Those can go in Q R codes.
Those links in emails/ web pages/ tweets, etc. that take you to web pages? Those can go into Q R codes.
I have a rather large QR Code that is my whole business card. I can show it on my screen and somebody can add my business card info to their contact list by scanning my phone screen.
So, while I cannot vouch for or against this particular app, nothing you've typed seems out of place.

Thanks for your input. I am technologically challenged. I do see a pattern -mesages, pixel scanner, contacts, qr scanner.
If I understand what you are saying, this can pop up for ads clicked on, clicking on google links, etc? The last qr code of the day is always this barcode scanner reader app - at all different time of the day. NOTHING shows past the last link of this app. I have downloaded the app on my daughter's phone and it does allow for texting capability. Many of the messages/texts do not show on the Verizon log.
Thank You

I think that We're talking past each other.
Q R codes look like little pictures of old-timey TV Static with little squares in 3 of the 4 corners.
This "static" is letters and numbers so anything that can be typed can be converted to a QR code. Like your email address, for example.
Additionally, QR codes can also encode a command to execute on the rest of the text.
So, put your email address into a QR code and add the command "mailto" and when I scan the QR code my email will come up with your email address in the To: field and I can send you mail.
Bar codes are just different symbols for numbers and letters but without the command field, so if you scan One you getthe numbers but nothing else happens.
There are lots of QR and bar code scanners out there. I searched in Android for the exact title of This post and found nothing that was exact.
What exactly is the app name and where did you see what you typed in the previous message?
