Christmas day dinner is all set but I want to do a Christmas Eve finger food type buffet dinner while we all watch Christmas movies.

So...I have the following ideas.

Croc pot honey garlic meatballs.

Vegetable tray with dips.

Poppers (for WH and i, to hot for the kids lol)

Egg rolls (veg & meat)

Mozzarella sticks

Deviled eggs.

Mini pizzas

Any other ideas for an evening of movies and snacking?

I'm trying to stay away from chips.

Should I do potato wedges?

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

How about a fruit tray--you can do fruit kebabs with chunks of pineapple, melon, grapes, etc. Healthy and kids love fruit.

Thank you! Yes that's perfect.

I always make up my own trays. Cheaper and I usually get more. Plus I can add things that they don't usually put in the made up ones.

I added sausage rolls, cheese and crackers and chicken nuggets to the list.

One day I hope to do a fondu. I miss those. That was always my parents go to for New Years Eve.

I might have to plan a chocolate fondue for New Year's Eve. I have a fondue pot that I rarely use. Might as well.

We're going to do a gourmet cheese board for New Year's Eve and I'm going to make my own crackers (I did them with my Kitchenaid Pasta Rollers and they came out fabulous!).

I've never tried home made crackers.

I so miss doing the fondu. Used to be so fun. Of course every year there was always spillage and a fire of some sort, thus why the fire extinguisher was always on hand lmao.

With four kids it's just not an option. We would always have cheese and oil. Only ever had a chocolate one when I went out.

I have a busy weekend ahead of me and I'm already getting stressed lol. I am making a care package for a friend of home made perogies and cabbage rolls as well as finishing the last of the shopping for the kids. The food shopping is always a pain as the stores are normally very busy and will be moreso because of the holiday. And on top of it the weather is supposed to turn to crap starting this afternoon and last through the weekend. Yay... Luckily WH isn't working late tomorrow so I can get out earlier than normal.

DS was asking if he could help me cook so getting everything ready Christmas Eve won't be to bad. We are also baking cookies for Santa and making a Pop Tart house instead of a gingerbread one (kids choice). I am just worried that the kids won't eat well. Big D hasn't been eating as much as usual lately. DD is just totally picky so she's always a challenge. DS will probably eat alright and Little M probably will too.

No one here likes shrimp so I might try to get myself a small tray. WH loves mussels and so do all of the kids ( ) lol.

Aw, that was my parents' tradition, too! They always did chicken broth with garlic and bay leaves and had chicken, steak, shrimp and veggies. I loved it.

We're doing a chocolate fondue for dessert on Christmas as the request of the youngest banana. It should be fun.

I guess this doesn't answer your question, but the fondue thing took me down memory lane. My parents are both gone now (my mother just a few months ago), and this made me smile.

I found a recipe for crackers online and they were relatively easy. Rather than rolling them out with a rolling pin, I used my pasta rollers on my Kitchenaid stand mixer, and then cut them with a pizza roller. They were REALLY good, too.

Awe I'm sorry for your loss.

The chicken broth sounds so good! My mom always used an oil fondu to cook the meat. I'll need to do the chicken broth.

The last.time my parents did a fondu my mom and dad bumped into eachother while my dad was holding the fire container. The thing spilled over onto his hand and he was badly burned. I see a disaster happening if I tried that now lol. Maybe for just WH and I after the kids have gone to bed for new year's Eve or when the kids are older.

No problem. This Christmas was weird. It just felt off. Even WH wasn't himself.

T food was a total hit. The kids loved and downed the fruit and veggies. The kids and I made a Pop Tart house instead of a gingerbread one. I think they had more fun taking it apart to eat then putting it together lol.

We were invited out for New Year's but I don't want to go. Its just to much to pack up the kids after midnight and bring them all home. And the weather here has been dreadful. So we'll do the food thing again and just enjoy playing all the games Santa brought. Connect Four is big hit.

I stocked up on the snack food again and will be making my meatballs again tomorrow as per WH request. If I can get this cold to hold off long enough for me to stay awake until.midnight I'll be happy. I've spent most of the past few days in bed.

My mom found the book that went with the deep fryer and in it is recipes. One of which is for donuts. Ya sooooooo trying that.

Of course all of the "rich" eating lately has put on some extra pounds that will have to come off...
