My WA becomes upset when I refer to the deliberate lying and cheating as “monstrous”
He did/does this, but doesn’t think it makes him a monster.
Perhaps I am oversimplifying, but don’t monsters regularly do monstrous things?

The solution to a wayward who does not get it is not trying harder, getting louder, or becoming more nasty. The solution is walking away.
He chooses to continue the disrespect.
So choose to let him live somewhere else.

Oh I've called my exWW a monster to her face a few times (her AP as well, they both are) after some of the things she pulled.
The deliberate lying and cheating is indeed monstrous. It does seem like the only solution when it's a serial cheater is to walk away.

My ex is like a little kid: I'm rubber and your glue whatever you say to me bounces off and sticks to you. Monster would be a good one. All the things she did, said or lied about were extremely monstrous. So yes, monster fits the bill. If the shoe fits...
