So wh and I just replaced our cheap flat pillows with very expensive memory cooling foam pillows.
Hes a happy sleeper now.
I have neck pain. Slept fine the first few nights but I've found that I'm a cuddle my pillow person and this one doesnt like to be cuddled...it just doesnt contour to my cuddle position lol
This pillow is also very firm and I dont think I'm a firm pillow person. I'm also not a flat as a pancake person either.
So the search for my ideal pillow continues.
But I do like the cooling part of this pillow. So I'm unsure of a feather pillow woukd be better.
Any tips on figuring out the best pillow? I'm mainly a side sleeper with times of sleeping on my stomach, which requires a thicker pillow as the girls need the space lol.
usually if I'm on my back I prefer almost flat, just enough support under my neck.
My maternity candy cane shaped pillow was amazing. Dont have that one anymore. Gave me the support for my head but also the support between my knees that I like (right now I just roll up the blanket.). So maybe I need another maternity pillow?
Never thought as I aged one of my biggest mental gymnastic roller coasters would be figuring out pillows lol.

MyPillow. I've bought several. I like them. They come in different sizes and densities based on sleeping position and weight (I think).

Is this a brand I'd find in stores or best to order online?

I'm a side sleeper too, with a need for something to support my knees, too. My Pillow was awful for me, too stiff, too high, too hot. It's relegated to the guest room.
I've tried almost every pillow on the market. The best one is from Kohls online, called The Big One/side sleeper. It's appropriately squishy and can fold it to fit my position. It was about $10.

Lionne. I'll check out that pillow. Thank you :)
I once saw a video about a pillow designed after the ones Budists use. I was all for ordering it however it ends up being alot of money considering shipping.

I bought mine on-line. I know they are available at Bed, Bath and Beyond and they were available at Peavy Mart here in Alberta for a while. I would go to the website and go through the choice evaluation because it deals with sleep position, weight and gender, I think. You don't get that at an in store display that I've seen.

Two of my kids have those dense memory foam pillows and love them. I personally hate memory foam -- it's too firm and too hot. I prefer latex foam pillows that are NOT memory foam. They're usually lighter in weight, more breathable, and softer, but with a good resilience. The last time I replaced mine was at Bed, Bath & Beyond a few years ago. I think I bought the Beautyrest brand.

Thank you all for the input. I appreciate it.
I just want a decent nights sleep. I'll be checking out the web sites.

I'm a feather pillow person all the way. Also have firm synthetic ones for between the knees. I have scoliosis and have always needed the extra support.
Hotels seem to have nothing but super firm these days so I always travel with my own or I won't get any sleep.
I found an eco-drycleaner that reconditions and re-stuffs my feather ones so I always have exactly the firmness that I need.

I'm super picky about my pillows because neck pain will give me a migraine. I've found my sweet spot is a cooling shredded memory foam pillow. Easily punches into the shape I need, since I'm a side-nearly-stomach sleeper.
ETA: I don't know what brand it is, but I got mine from costco.

I didn't sleep well at all last night. Got to sleep but was woken by the driveway alarm. Went out to check, came back and couldn't get comfortable again to fall asleep. Tossed until the driveway alarm went off again...and again and again. I need a trail camera to see what's setting off the alarm at night!
Once awake I just wasnt able to get comfortable again.

I sleep in the middle of my pillows and after a time they start to sag and the ends come up a bit and I don't like that. So I tried an expensive pillow- no difference. Now I use two thin ones and that seems to work best.

I sleep on my sides and sometimes my stomach. I have a bamboo memory foam pillow that I like.

I saw the bamboo memory foam ones when I bought the "cooling memory foam" ones.
I looked up some pillows online and I think I'll order a few and see what works for me. Any I dont use the kids will. DD was already hinting at wanting my memory pillow. Wh asked her to go feed one of the animals in our room and she took way to long. He went to check and found her asleep on my pillow....guess she really likes the firm ones.
Hopefully I can get some decent rest tonight. I have a busy day tomorrow.

I crush pillows. I bought the last one at a large well known big box store. Known for quality on all of its products, pillow lasted 1 month and then it became 2 pillows in 1 covering. I have always destroyed pillows because my head is large and heavy.
DragnHeart (original poster member #32122) posted at 2:41 AM on Friday, June 19th, 2020
I've done that to pillows as well but because I always fold them in half to make bigger or squish when I cuddle them.
Wh asked me how I can't like this pillow. He said his head just sinks into it so nicely. Well my head does not. Guess it's not as heavy lol. (Here I thought his head was always full of air hahaha).
