Annual Plug For Christmas Card Exchange

Chili posted 9/14/2020 16:38 PM

For those D/S-ers who don't venture down into Fun & Games, I just wanted to promote the SI annual exchange. I signed up facing that first holiday season alone not knowing quite what to expect. And it turned out to be the coolest thing ever. How affirming it was to receive a huge bundle of cards from internet strangers who just *got it.*

It is done 100% anonymously. Some greetings include little personal notes - many are handmade and show the amazing creative talents of folks around here - and nearly all of them are filled with some form of glitter or other seasonal swag. Out-glittering each other is sport. I open my cards over bowls and put the glitter into a clear ornament to hang on the tree each year. Those make me smile as well.

It's a really wonderful tradition especially since Christmas was one of the founder's favorite holidays. Ok - hard sell over. I think the sign-up ends at the end of October. Head on over to F&G and check out the thread. Hope to see some fellow travelers on the listy! Glitter on.

Bumping for those who haven't signed up yet!

October 31st is the deadline - head on down to the Fun & Games forum for the thread. You'll find an FAQ and sign-up form plus all the festive dancing emojis.

Hope you'll consider joining in and sharing a little SI joy with members who might need an extra boost of it this season.

Here's the thread from last year - pictures of the cards taken by participants start around Page 9.

Ok - last plug for any in this forum who haven't considered this yet. The deadline for signing up is the end of this month.

If you're facing being alone these holidays - or needing a little extra joy from some SI folks during this jacked up year - put your name in the hat.

It's good fun - lots of sparkly bundles of festivity!

How many cards are you supposed to send out if you sign up? One for everyone else that signs up? Or just a few (like 10 or so)?

Chili posted 10/20/2020 23:00 PM

Hey ibonnie! The thread down on F&G has an FAQ on the first page that might answer some of your questions. (It's the big red colored thread).

The years I've participated have been in the 25-55 range of members signing up. Which is how many cards you'd need - one for each "username" on the list that you send in a package/box to the "North Pole." The elves there then put "real name/address" labels on and send the cards out to all of us.

I hope you'll consider doing it - it's really fabulous.
